Opportunity to establish a free school in Scunthorpe
North Lincolnshire Council, in partnership with the Department for Education (DfE), is seeking proposals from prospective sponsors for a new special school.
The new school will be for students over the age of 16 who have:
- Severe learning disability
- Profound and multiple learning disability
- Speech and language communication needs
- Autism spectrum disorder
- Potentially challenging and complex behaviours
If a strong proposal is received that both the local authority and the Secretary of State wish to take forward, the DfE will provide capital funding and start-up grants subject to value for money assessments.
The deadline for applications is 30 September 2019.
As part of this stage of the process, we are organising a stakeholder engagement event for proposers where you can find out more about the school and ask questions of council officers.
We will publish answers to questions about the proposed school on this page.
You can register your interest in the proposed free school and request an invitation to the engagement event by contacting us on 01724 297893.
